SEX: As a JW, Were you ever thisclose to having sex and then chickened out?
by Funchback inas a jw, were you ever thisclose to having sex and then chickened out?
being raised (since the age of 7) as a jw, i grew up very frustrated sexually.
everything about sex carried a heavy burden of guilt.

I was a good little JW full time pioneer boy, who was too chicken to even think about getting laid. I did, however, date eligible sisters in my quest for the "perfect" mate ( whatever that meant). One young sister who was was about 2-3 years yonger than me, and was not from a theocratic family, accepted a date to go to the movies. It was a hot summer nite and we ended up after the movie at a local beach, not to go swimming. Of course the beach was deserted and we made it hotter. Low and behold, this young sister ( who was a real "looker") had a bit more experience than me and caused me to clam up with that damn christian conscience!! As a young ministerial servant. I was confused --thinking that I should possibly be counciling this girl ( HA HA--what an pious stuck up ass I was!)
Lo and behold, 2 years later when I broke from the Jws, and started my colIege years, ( therapy and deprogramming ) got laid at age 22, a bit late in life for this sort of thing. And when I realized what I had missed out on all these years--I made up for lost time and literally left no stone unturned---I cannot deny it--I had great fun. I was not into breaking any hearts, just having fun, and all of my partners seem to think the same way. No more christian concscience. Phew.
This was also before time of AIDS. The biggest concern back then was getting your partner pregnent.
From this point in my life I can look back and say that sex is meant to be enjoyed, with no guilt. It happens when it happens and provided that it is between two consenting adults, is none of anyone elses business One more whack at the JW teachings I was raised with.

Hey Scooby,
My condolences on your loss. I know what it is like; my Dad passed recently. Your know instinctively that wherever they are, they are smiling and are among friends.
It brings me comfort to thing of a crowd waving at a ship as it departs , and another crowd welcoming it as it arrives at a new destination.

What a blessing to leave the Cult
by ElderSmurf inthis is our first christmas as a family after leaving the cult that defiles gods name.
its been a good year, not only have we left the cult but so have most of our family.
its wonderful to finally be free of the hateful/doublefaced society and to finally see how others worship the almighty god.

Updates and best wishes
by Phantom Stranger inin order to stem the inrush of e-mail and personal messages wanting to know where i've been (and thanks to the two of you who noticed) i chose to take a break off of the board while i was busier than a one-armed paperhanger.
since thanksgiving, i've been on two business trips, bought my first house (get the keys on tuesday) prepared to move (packing, utilities, etc.
), won our first indoor soccer game with me as goalkeeper (5-4, whew!

good to hear from you.
good luck with the house. Now, we may never hear from you. Old houses have a way of demanding time and money. And, without fail, every month you will be reminded that you are a proud home owner when you write out the mortgage check.

What would you consider to be 'Victory over the Watchtower'?
by nicolaou ini'm not talking about a victory which might include welcome reforms on blood policy, shunning or the handling of abuse allegations.
what i want to know is what we would consider to be the victory.. it is unlikey in the extreme that the various corporations of the watchtower empire will ever be closed down so, realistically what can we hope for in the long term?
say 30 - 50 years?.
-
franklin J
...I say let the Watchtower do what ever it likes....it is a free society.
We , on the other hand, should get on with our lives, and positively live our life to the fullest, most successful degree possible.
The best way to show up our former "pimp" religious taskmaster is to lead a very successful life--without them.
still working at it--

The Elders Are Getting Opinions About Minimus
by minimus inmy mother told me that her bookstudy overseer asked his group this question---"why do you think a mature brother in the truth would just suddenly leave and stop coming to meetings?
any ideas?
" the group gave different opinions and finally he gave what he thought could be the reasons.

franklin J
Hey Minimus,
some good responses to your post; I agree with Seattle and Odrade; and add to that the fact that you COULD NEVER give them any rational explanation. In their perspective-YOU would always be wrong, no matter how well you danced.
It is a lose-lose situation with them for you. FADE GRACIOUSLY and do not grant any interviews.
